WHY THE GROUND IS UNUSUAL. Lanzarote has almost no shelf. The slope off the southern coast falls away within about a mile of Puerto Calero and continues past a thousand metres, and deeper still on the island's western side. A boat here reaches blue water in the time an equivalent boat off an Atlantic shelf coast is still passing buoys, which is the whole reason big-game fishing works from a small island marina.
WHERE THE BOAT ACTUALLY IS. The business is named for Marina Rubicón at Playa Blanca and third-party pages place it there. The operator's own site says Puerto Calero, twenty kilometres up the coast.
