Privacy

FishingHQ collects nothing until you say yes, collects nothing that identifies you if you do, and has nowhere to put what you type even if it wanted to.

What is happening right now

Analytics are NOT enabled on this build. No events are sent anywhere at all, whatever you choose on the consent banner. FishingHQ is currently in private beta.

Consent comes first, and no is the default

Nothing is recorded before you decide. An undecided state behaves exactly like a refusal: no events, not reduced events. If you decline, or simply never answer, nothing is sent.

If you accept, an anonymous identifier is created for the tab you are in. It is random, it lives in session storage, and it is destroyed when you close the tab — so it cannot be used to recognise you on a later visit. Withdrawing consent deletes it immediately.

What is recorded, if you allow it

  • Which kind of page was viewed, and which record.
  • Which links between records were followed, and from where.
  • Whether an evidence panel or a safety notice was shown or opened.
  • For searches: how many results came back, and how long the query was. Never the query.
  • Which unit conversion was used. Never the value.
  • Whether a page was shared, copied or printed.

No event in the catalogue has a field capable of holding free text. That is a structural property rather than a promise: what you type into the search box cannot reach an analytics payload because there is nowhere in the schema to put it, and a test asserts that over the whole event catalogue.

What is never recorded

No name, no email address, no account, no advertising identifier, no cross-site tracking, no fingerprinting, and no search terms. FishingHQ has no login and no user accounts.

Search runs entirely in your browser. The index is part of the page, so a query has nowhere to be sent even in principle.

Who processes it

Anonymous events, where they are collected at all, are processed by HEKNO Analytics — a platform operated by HEKNO Ltd, the same company that operates this site. There are no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking scripts on FishingHQ, and the content security policy blocks outbound connections to anything other than that platform.

Data controller: HEKNO Ltd. Privacy enquiries: privacy@hekno.co.uk.

Your choices

You can change your mind at any time. Clearing this site’s storage in your browser resets the decision and shows the banner again. Because nothing collected identifies you, there is no personal data to request or delete — which is the intended consequence of the design rather than a technicality.
