About FishingHQ

FishingHQ is a fishing intelligence platform: the species, the science, the practice, and the reasoning behind it — with the evidence for every claim stated plainly.

What it is for

Most fishing content on the internet is one of two things: a restatement of a handful of twentieth-century books, or an advertisement with an article wrapped around it. Both present convention as fact, and neither tells you which is which.

FishingHQ is built to answer fishing questions deeply and transparently. It covers the biology, the methods, the bait, the tackle, the history and the environmental cost, and on every substantive claim it says what kind of thing that claim is — research, an authority, angling convention, a manufacturer’s own statement, or something merely reported.

What it will not do

It will not tell you where to go and catch a fish, and it will not tell you what the rules are where you are standing. Both are explained in what we do and do not cover, and both are enforced by the build rather than left to editorial restraint.

Where it is going

This is a foundation rather than a finished catalogue. The architecture is built to carry thousands of records, and the priority order is deliberate: high-demand target species first, then secondary and regional ones, then broader encyclopaedic coverage. Rod fishing is the primary area, spearfishing has its own section, and other fishing methods are covered for understanding rather than instruction.
